Forrest Veil
Dominion House is defined by a bold and highly sculptural concrete façade that wraps the home in a continuous veil of repeating archways. This architectural screen performs multiple roles — moderating solar gain, enhancing privacy, and establishing a strong civic presence to the street, while also forming a unifying visual language around the entire building envelope.
The interplay between the robust external shell and the light-filled interior spaces defines the character of the home. Externally, the repeating arches create rhythm, depth and shadow, responding to the changing light throughout the day. Internally, the concrete façade is experienced as an ever-present aesthetic feature, framing views, filtering sunlight and reinforcing the architectural identity of the house from within.
Behind this permeable concrete layer, the home is organised around a central internal courtyard that draws abundant natural light deep into the living spaces. This courtyard becomes the heart of the plan, creating a strong connection between indoor and outdoor environments and providing visual relief against the solidity of the surrounding concrete form.
